rear spoiler

on my '97 si theres a little spoiler (think its the same as the gti one). Has anybody ever taken this off? If so how? Because I'm getting my car resprayed soon and am thinking of changing the spoiler to something else. Has anybody ever fitted a universal wing on their 'mera?? I know some of you will not like that but I just need some inspiration for a spoiler so any pics most appreciated :D
 
theyre pretty hard to get off, Theyre only held on with about 4 bolts and a LOT of sticky pad type stuff, Your best bet is a heatgun, heat it up and pull hard.

Be warned even with a heatgun I snapped mine taking it off :(
 
used an old credit card to get one of a scrap car, damaged the paint on the car but if its getting resprayed anyway you might not be bothered.

got to agree though, bloody awkward things to get off, even on a scrap car were the only thing i was bothered about was keeping the spoiler in one piece it was a good 30 minutes to remove it
 
thought they were on with only 2 bolts and sticky stuff, bolted from inside the boot lid, behind some rubber grommits.
 
oh right, sends like a bit of a cow but i'll have a go. has anybody got pics of a 'mera with a universal spoiler on (i've seen nismos old white car did have one but i cant find any descent pics).

cheers mate your a star. Is pretty much any spoiler capable of being fitted like that? Just smoothed in and sprayed?

pritty much the green car is the civic street fighter spoiler cut and smoothed on to the gti standered spoilere and the white 1 is the universal adjustable evo spoiler
 
Has anyone ever put a carbon spoiler on an N15? not a huge silly shopping trolley one, just a tiny one similar to the standard length, but like..god this is hard to explain, i'll find a picture! and then seamlessly edit this post.

like that! it would have to hang over the end a little, but it could look cool i reckon, not sure it'd be nicer than the OE spoiler though.
 
im trying to find somwhere that will put wet laid carbon on my new spoiler from swanny, should look amazing
 
andy with flamera has a carbon spoiler on his sitting on top of the standered gti 1
 
thats the sort of spoiler I want. just need a few pics to see how it will look. If not i'll mould one on. If i get a carbon one will it look silly being put on the original spoiler??
 
Isnt Andy's more like a VZ-R spoiler though instead of a normal wing like you had on the SRi before the evo one?
 
Thats the one I meant, yeah wasn't too keen on it to be honest. Theres a modded corsa (Surprise surprise) around my area that has a carbon spoiler like that on it, not sure if that's it though but I can't help thinking 'tosser' everytime I see him... poor guy :lol:
