red p1 turbo at santa pod

was a red p1 non bodykit GTi at santa pod today, had white wheels (about 17") and a bloody big intercooler  . didnt see it go down the strip, dont know if it did before we arrived or if it was just there to watch.

think Kurt got a picture of it

what happened with everyone else that was meant to be going?

i wasnt maeant to be going lol

damn that bloke needs to get on this site so we can all perv on the car!

did you have a play up the strip or left it for another day?

wasnt going to have a go anyway, but you had to be there at 8.30am to sign on anyway so i couldnt have had a go if i had wanted to. would have been leaving my house at about 5am just to get there in time to sign on, bit stupid really for something thats a bit of fun, not like its a proffessional series for people with big budgets who can afford to stay down there the night before. felt sorry for Kurt who wanted to have a go but couldnt, we didnt get there until about 12.30, and that was with us leaving at about 9am ish.

there were actually a few cars there the little Si could beat, 2 1.1 saxos which were slow as anything, think they were high 19's. tbh i cant really be bothered with this car anymore, Kurt took me out in the GTi and its put me right off the almera, i need an SR20

never been in a GTI, offers? lol

you sure thats not when sign on starts because last time i went i signed on at 12 or something, nowhere near that early

get a go in one, like a different car to the little 1.4, imagine your old almera but on steriods, makes me wonder how quick with p10 would feel if my dad ever drove it properly, drives like a grandad

thats what Kurt got told, i didnt ask but when i got to the gate the women said it was too late to sign on and that was at 12.30ish, no idea why as it didnt seem too full or anything, would of said they could fit alot more cars in.

You didn't have to be there at 8.30, but it's first come first serve. so they had too many people that had signed on, by the time we got there.

Jim, shame there wasn't more room, I didn't even get out of 2nd.

Although I did nail it when the 40mph limit finished. lol

ahh, makes sense now, dont know where i got 8.30 from

yer noticed you dissapear off into the distance, was tempted to drop it to 3rd and see just how big the difference was with the Si to GTi but it would be embarrasing  , amazed how quick it pulled away, guess you forget how quick something can be when your stuck in a 1.4, havent even been in the p10 much recently ( :( ) so you soon forget how what the difference is in power, i tried to race my dad a few weeks ago, me pushing it and him doing him usual grandad race mode (redlines at 7600, barely ever goes past 5500) and he walked all over me, made it look like i wasnt even trying, and that was only 0-about 40ish, were you would think the short ratio of the 1.4 gearbox would at least give it a slight chance of keeping up ok, think i will be saving alot more from now on and see what i have got for next years insurance, fingers crossed before christmas i might have some power :D

You got 8.30 from me. They said it opens at 8.30, and is a first come first serve after that.

I dropped it to 3rd, then a blip into 4th, and was doing 110mph. :O

ahh, think i remember you saying that now actually, bit tired after 380 miles

you had 110mph in no time at all, i got the Si to an indicated 110 on an empty motorway the other night, seemed to take forever, must have been a good few miles of it getting up to speed and as it got over 100 it started climbing slower and slower, dont think i will try it again though as it was accelerating so slowly it was depressing

Here it is.....

Thats almost quite a nice sleeper, if the wheels where abit smaller and the numberplate higher. Anyone know anything about this.?

Yeah if they moved the numberplate to the original position, then cut the letters out to let air flow through ;) oh and sprayed the intercooler black!

Reminds me of dave bull's monster GTi.
