Righto, got an N15 P2, 1.4 5 door with standard factory fit spoiler, how was it attached? By glue? As thats how it seems, wondering if it would be possible to remove... Any help gladly appreciated.

lift the tailgate and yourll see 2 blind grommets, one at each corner of the top of the tailgate, pull these off and yourll see a nut, undo these nuts and then it should just be the glue thats holding it on

as i've said be careful when you're pulling it off, even when using a heatgun the sticky pads are really, really sticky and I snapped mine trying to get it off.

theres also two plugs holding it in and theyre quite hard to get off. theyre about 5cm in from the nuts going towards the middle. you just haveto be careful with them

Bring up an ancient thread but I need to do this, whats best if you dont have a heat gun!?

Also need to remove skirts. Bump strips will be easy, done this before but dont want to break them.
Cheers

Two bolts inside bootlid holding spoiler on. Then if you have a hairdryer use it to heat up the glue. Use some dental floss to break up the glue under the spoiler, back and forth movement. It shouldnt damage the paint.

I didn't use any heat taking mine off, didn't damage the spoiler but it left all the adhesive on top of the car!! so I imagine you'd have a job cleaning it all off

Got to refit mine soon, as the sealers split & it`s bowed in the middle so much, I can get my fingers under it!

but gives lots of scratches after lol

whatever you do dont use one of them rubber flappy wheels in a drill, massively damages the paint

My spoiler iwas the same as yours came up a the back ive fixed it now. I got some sticker flex (Black silicone adhesive) filled up the gap and put a sheet over the spoiler/ roof then piled 14 bricks on top to hold it down. Left it for 24 hours and its fine now. You would not believe how much weight you actually need to hold it down.

Heating the adhesive and using dental floss or fishing line (does not break as often as floss) works for me when removing stuck-on stuff.

When debadging I use adhesive remover (nasty stuff but works and does not damage paint, you can even buy pre-soaked wipes from most car supply places like Halfords) to get the sticky stuff off all the time keeping it warm with a hairdrter.

Takes ages and I usually end up using my fingertips to roll the bits of sticky pads off (rough enough to create friction but soft enough not to damage paint and you have a lot of control over them).
