Hey all,

was in a small fender bender on friday, with my trusty 98 1.4s. Slippy roads, and not paying enough attention etc etc, but lucky for me the fella either had a few pints on him, had no insurance, or is genuinely the nicest guy in the world, because he said not to bother about it, and drove off without taking any details.

So i crumpled in the side of the car a small bit on the drivers side. Indicator light smashed, and right panel dented (bumper will also need replacing but not as essential just yet).

I'm going to spend the day ringing breakers yards to find a part.

Will the driver side fender from any 98-00 1.4 almera fit it?
such as the 1.4gx saloon, 1.4 S saloon or the 5 door hatchback S.

also, will need to bend some of the car into place again, can you giv me any tips or reccomendations?

Any Help Appreciated :)

Yeah i seen them new for 50 quid, but there'd be no colour on them? Dunno could i afford to have it sprayed as well.

I have just ordered a new wing. Mate of mine going to spray for 25 quid. If you are going to buy second hand, make sure that there is no rust. Also bottom of the wing where it meets the chasis, is always rusted to shit.. If you cant get it of with a spanner, walk away. Cus it wil be nothing but trouble. Problem i had, i had to take my wings of with an angle ginder. Got the bottom of them cut of and a plate welded on, and re shaped. they were a good job, but because 1 wing was about 3 mm longer, i was unable to get a good fit, so now im having to boycot one of my wings, an buy a brand new one!

There is a full body repair manual available on the site. It gives you the measurements for cross checking the front end. Failing that measure from the back bolt hole of the right wing to the front of the left wing. Write it down and then check from the back volt on the left wing to the front bolt on the right wing. It will probably be about 12mm shorter so now you've got to try and knock the panel out until both the measurements match up. Blocks of wood and a large hammer should be enough to shift that lot back into place. Once you think you've got it all square try on the new wing and make sure it lines up with the bonnet and thy the gap is even both sides. Fit your headlamps and indicator in and you know then that you're dead square. Do it little by little and you'll be ok. Any problems drop me a pm and I'll try and help out. If you were (a lot) closer I'd give you a hand.

Spook, thats quite interesting. I didnt know that. Seems like a bit of a fuck up, to fit a couple of wings lol#

EDIT: I take it, your last post, is for a that needs jigged? lol

Thats what you'll need to do to get it fitting nice in the end. It doesn't need putting on a jig really. If it was in my workshop I would be pulling it on a sliding hammer on the bolt hole and a block of wood to get the inner wing straight. That repair guide is good for if you think you're buying a shonky motor that's been repaired before.
