Restoring Chrome lip

A while ago I bought some second hand wheels. The chrome lip on them was not it the best state- they have marks and are pretty manky. What's the best way (if any) to restore them to their former glory?

Well we restored a 1979 single seater race car last year- it had been stored in a barn for 10 years and was a mess. There was alot of chrome parts on it that we all pitted. Its not too expensive to get parts re-plated but with most of our parts we borrowed a polishing mop.

Basically you have a polishing wheel that spins bloody fast, you cover the polishing wheel with a buffing paste and then spend hours buffing your component on it- brings most things up real nice. You wont get it as good by hand.

If they arent that bad and you feel you can bring em up by hand then by some auto-sol in the black and gold tube and buff that into it

on a similar note... i have wheels with a stainless steel lip, not curbed them at all, but how do you refurb the s/s? i meen with alloy you can filler and spray the wheels, is there something for losing kurb marks in s/s without losing the shine and making them look dull?

not really if you kerbed it you have to fill and spray over it. if its not that deep you could try sanding it down with very fine sand paper and try to polish it out
