I have recently bought an almera. N16. 2004. 1.4 petrol. 120000 moles. Only had for 1 month.
Unfortunately, within 2 weeks, the clutch went. Dealers took it back and fitted new clutch. Or so they say, presuming they didn't just try some bodge repair, don't trust them at all! Expected it to feel way more sensitive when I got it back, whereas it feels normal. And still occasionally makes a noise when going into reverse ( at beginning, I reverse out of drive...)
So, a local mechanic friend is taking it in to look it over, incase of anything else likely to crop up, would rather know sooner than later. The main reason I'm asking him to look it over is because I've noticed that the tick over sounds a tiny bit whiny, but not sure if that's just how it sounds. And also, the revs seem to go up for a few seconds when I dip the clutch to change from 1-2, less so from 3-4 but still happens. Even when my foot is totally off the throttle.
I've read that this revs rising thing can be a feature of some cars, that it is designed to do so, to clear catalytic convertor. Anyone know if this is a feature of almeras?
Also, the parking sensors, I hate them at the best of times. But the parking sensors in this one seem to bleep when I reverse and nothing is there sometimes! There was some damp from an old leak in the boot, could this have affected them do you think?
Any thoughts appreciated!
