road holding. especially in the wet

hi

i have a 98 1.4 petrol premium with standard 175/64 14 tyres. I ve found these slippery in the wet.

i m about to install an lpg system that will mean a 50 litre tank in the boot and i would like to improve the road holding.

can anyone offer any recommendations please?:P

The only way to improve road holding without spending loads of cash

better tyres.

budget tyres are budget for a reason, they are made from a hard compound which doesnt flex as much to the shape of the road. so expecially in wet they can feel quite loose

wider tyres would also be beneficial, but this would be best tied with a set of alloys that come with wider tyres as stock

Spend as much as you can on tyres. A set of GTi rims with half decent tyres should do the trick. Stock GTi tyres are 195/55/15.
