Rocker cover removal question

Rocker cover removal

Hey all,

I want to take my rocker cover off & make it nice to look at, (as you can see from the pic, at the moment it looks crap) :(

I`m thinking of either rubbing it down & painting it or just leaving it shiny, but what I want to know is, do you have to remove the 2 bolts on the top as well as the 9 for the gasket  (if not what are they for?)

Thanks

Thanks Paul,

Better to check before doing anything. ;)

I thought they may be holding the baffle in place, or if I undid them & didn`t need to, & then took the cover off, summat may fall into the engine

This is my first Nissan, (had Fiestas & Corsas before) so have got lots to learn about them! (plus the fact that Haynes hasn`t got a manual for the N16 is a right sh1tter!)  :thumb2: :mad2: :wall:

haynes doesn't do a book for the n16

Unfortunately not, I went on their website & did a search & it wasn`t even in the `upcoming releases` section!  (they`re probably too busy doing books on washing machines & the human body to care about us N16ers!)

I`ve already got one of these CDs from www.workshopmanuals.co.uk (£12)

The trouble is that it doesn`t mention the 2 bolts on the top, just the correct loosening & tightening sequence for the 9 gasket bolts!

That`s the reason I asked about the other 2 bolts, because I didn`t know what they were for.

P.S: Anyone know a good place to get a rocker cover polished/painted in Essex/Suffolk area?

Thanks

Right, had the rocker cover off today & went over it with wet & dry paper, but it`s still not to my liking  (although it is an improvement) :P , gonna either get it polished or painted (but not sure what colour) suggestions welcome.
