RPM at 70mph

hey can anyone tell me what RPM your doing at 70mph in a GTi??

Think it's just a fraction under 3k.

carnt be man the GAbox in my 1.6 is suposed to be linger than a GTi one and its sat at 3250RPM id just like to see what the GTi's is compaired..

at 70 mph my SRi was at like 4.5k :/
It used to rev real high in 5th.. Fuel burner!!

I think stu tends to drive at 6000rpm at 70mph. Of course that's in third though :lol:

^ haha should near 90mph, in 5th 3k 70mph. 3.5k 80mph 4k 90mph for me

think my rev counter is a bit eger though... As it shows the limiter at over 7.

hmm wierd that looks exactly the same as my GA box... whats the top speed in second gear?

^Looks very similar to mine. Around 3100 rpm

But it depends on tyres you've got on. Bigger wheels=lower rpm at 70. And use a sat nav - it will tell you exactly what speed you are driving. Mine at 70 shows 68 on sat nav

mines a touch over 3k on the SRi, id expect the Gti to rev lower as the box is longer than a 1.6

It probably reads just under 3k, but is actually about 3100-3200rpm.

Good point ref the limiter as I've been into about 7,500 in third on the limiter but seems to only just hit 7 in 2nd and 4th.

IIRC the speedo is set roughly 3-5mph too fast from factory (so at 25mph indicated you're doing about 21/22mph) and the rev counter is between 300rpm-500rpm out.

The redline for the lowport SR20DE is 7200 rpm and for the highport SR20DE 7800 rpm. There was a special "Autech" version with 175 PS (N15) and 180 PS (P10).

my SRi is 3500 rpm at 70 mph in 5th ( 5oo rpm per 10 mph in 5th ?) running on 15 inch GTi alloys though surely wouldnt that much of a difference if the other 1.6's that are on the threads average 3200 -3250 ?

40mph =2000 rpm
50mph=2500 rpm
60mph=3000 rpm
70mph=3500 rpm
