Running RCA's

quick simple question. Where are all you guys running your RCA's?
i have my power running down the left of the car, and the RCA's down the right, but i seem to be getting a bit of engine noise. I have reason to believe its coming from the fuse box (the cables run under by the footwell)
any help would be super
cheers guys

I ran two sets of RCA leads right up the middle of the car, one to the left of the central console and one to the right.

Ran the power lead up the passenger side and the amp remote lead up the driver's side.

Cheers

That was my plan
what needs to come out and stuff?
is it a seat removel jobby? or have i not thought this through properly :o

You'll need to take the handbrake console and the lowe rear seats (not upright) out to run them properly. ie Under the carpet.

Once the handbrake console is out, you'll see how to run them easy enough.

You only need to take the rear seats out, so you can get the RCA leads under the carpet.

Cheers

ive two sets running down the car the power down one side and the remote and rcas down the other and have no probs
a mates golf started to go like described above and hes since been told his alternator is on the way out
now another thing could be how and where the amp is secured if it is screwed directly to back seats you could be earhting the amp externally which would be giving similar results depending on the amp

sometimes its not just due to the way you run the wires, but the quality of the stuff you use, im not talking about wiring here, im talking about the amps themselves. Cheaper amps can and often do generate interferrence, more expensive better quality ones dont.

most of the stuff has been covered above, just keep the earth as short as poss, remove paint before you earth andd thats about it.

also, most modern cars nowadays have that much electrickery, that they will cause interferrence anyways wherever you put them

cost me £400 (the DLS amp)
and they are compotition cables
i have a sneaky suspition its the RCA's. I held the car at about 4K, heard the noise, gave the RCA's a wiggle by the fuse box and it got louder and quieter. I'll run them through the middle next week and see what happens
cheers guys

RCA's down the right hand side and power leads + switch down the left

while on ethe subject of amps and leads etc, when i turn me headunit up loadish the screen starts to flash

ive got 2 amps (444watt and 300watt) running directly from the battery, would another battery solve this problem, ie running the amps of a second battery wired up to a split charge system?

the flashing of the head unit could be purely that youre putting too much load on it. Does your headlight do it? Most sound systems when tuned shoudl be done at 2/3 full volume, this means that the HU aint straining to produce the sound, more than that, youre asking for distortion. I wouldnt advise a second battery unless you can afford to uprate the alternator. You will have to manuallky switch charging to the second one during driving conditions. Invest in a Maxxima Battery, they are good.

could also be just an easy problem like the earth to the head unit too small and not enough power getting to it when the amps are on. cause dont forget your also taking power from it by the remote wire/s
