has anyone had any problems withthe top of the rear suspension mount rusting ???

im going to take a few pics today and then go get some welding quotes just thought it might save someone some cash if they can catch it befroe it goes like mine as its hidden away under a bolt in section in the boot

will post pics asap

This is a huge problem with pretty much all nissans, particularly Sunny's (ask cov_racer) and NX's (ask me), but as the Almera nears their kind of age it'll start to happen more.

biggest problem on the NXOC and reason for them being scrapped - feel like i always go on about it but the top mount rusts and breaks from the turret, and the suspension pushes the dampers through into the car.
will find some pics of some dead ones in a bit.

there's also a part called the Inner Arch which you cant see but rusts at the same rate as the turret. Welding it back together is doable but not really advisable unless you know someone shit hot at welding, the turrets need to be lined up properly as they're the structural part that holds the suspension inline.

imo the best way to fix it (what i did) is to order the new panels from nissan (both turrets and both inner arches came to about £300) then have a plater or welder weld them inplace (expect to pay about £400-500 for labour). Result = completely new rust free rear turrets :)

30 quids job done and they guy can weld anything its not that bad at moment it hasnt gpne completley but if it goes again then i might look at new turets

As long as you're sure its ok, mine looked fine from the top and underneath but on advice from the NXOC i ran my hand up the inside of the wheel arch and my finger fell through the rust, despite the turrets looking fine from the top. that said my car is 14 years old. Be best to underseal the whole car once the weldings done, but you probably know that!

Probably hasnt started happening too badly on almeras yet but it will soon, ive seen acouple with really rusty rear turrets.

ermmm I paid £220 for both the turrets from Nissan (so £110 each)
the inner arches were about £80 each.

Then got charged around £350 labour, but the guy hadn't done it before, afterwards he said if he was to do it again he'd charge £500.

dam! thats some nasty shit mate! If that happen's to my almera il cry for days lol! And there's a welder at my garage! rofl, major harshness!

was nothing mine its just where the nut has pulled through the rest of it is fine job sorted hardest part of it was removing thar stupid gray thing that covers it all up

you could have learned to weld and bought a welder for that much... then do your mates.

welding is easy enough on stuff like that - 20 mins praccy (having never done it before) and you'd be MOT worthy.
