Settings - any suggestions?

Trying to get the most out my system before deciding whether or not to go to the trouble and expense of replacing speakers and so on.

Currently have OEM phase 1 N16 sport speakers (unknown tweeters in windscreen pillars, 6.5s front, 6x4s rear) and a Fli Trap 12" active sub in the boot.

Headunit is a Kenwood 6537U.

Sub is running from a dedicated subwoofer pre-out on the HU and has freq-filter (50-220hz), gain and bass-boost controls.

HU has Front High Pass, Rear High Pass and Low Pass filter settings with a range of 50hz-220hz.

I listen to a lot of really heavy industrial, metal and punk music so getting everything clear among the noise is often tricky.

Mainly wondering what you guys would recommend setting the filters to but any other suggestions welcome.

I'd just change the front the speakers, it makes a huge difference. I got a couple of half decent coaxials and it's a hell of a lot better. I've got to have the bass up quite a bit to make up for a lack of sub, but they punch really nicely in the mids, and go much louder before distorting. With a sub it's probably less of an issue getting them loud, but hey

Are those things on the a pillers actually tweeters then? I wonder if they're still going in my car, along with the coax ones... Maybe I should check

Remove all the bass from the standard speakers, turn the amp to its lowest or off setting, turn the speakers up as loud as you'd ever have them, then bring the bass in from the sub to suit the track.

This is the best way to utilise factory speakers without ever blowing them as you will have set them to your loudest setting not theirs.

Also they should not distort as it is too much bass bieng generated that will mate a factory (or any) speaker 'fart' and 'blow'.

Will probably get some decent component speakers for the front at some point but for now more interested in getting the best with what I've already got.

Been reading-up and fiddling as much as I can at night and things are vastly improved already with front high-pass at 80hz, rear high-pass at 60hz and low-pass at 80hz (they were set to "pass-all" before) and bass-boost on the sub dropped way down.
