Shocks and springs

Does any body know if the shocks and springs (Inter alloy) on the bay are any good as i think my shocks are about shagged, seems a resonable price @ £320.
My car is already on lowering springs, so could sell on the springs.
I know i should buy coilovers but think they are to much money, and a total ball ache to get hold of going by all the posts about them!!!!

Been reading a few threads about this subject, And have now decided to get new shocks and springs,

New standard GTI shocks and Eibach lowering springs should work well together, Would this be the preffered choice for those of you who are in the know?,thats even if they can be used together.

Please excuse me if this seems obvious but I know bugger all about suspension, all i do know is i think the ride should be better than it is at the moment, probably knackered shocks but may aswell change the lot.

It would be a preffered choice, but iirc the Eibach springs arent available anymore.

Get some K-Sports theres no real issue with them as far as I know, apart from the rubbing but thats not a huge issue.

I got H + R on mine with standard 10 yr old dampers.
As good as Eibach's + same German quality.
Only issue is i feel that the front end re-bound is a bit strong + on a bumpy road at slow speed it can be annoying.

K-sports for a 95-99 sentra, are these the right ones for the GTI. and can they be used with standard shocks.

Found them for $126 delivered

A good choice ?? as Eibachs are now discontinued and i cant seem to find any.

Niro, ive got that set of 'interalloy' shocks on mine. Bloody big improvement! I think theyre brill, ive had various different brands before i.e. spax etc on other cars (so cant really compare each on the GTi) but still this is the best all round kit ive ever had, and for the price its not too OTT.
Hope this helps.:)

i think the Ksports spring rates are to stiff and are over damped i had D2's on an old car and they were to stiff now i look back on it.. having lightened my GTi with more to come the spring rates are stiff as standard they could probly go a couple of lbs stiffer with some better shocks but the thing that needs addressing is the ARB's that would be my first point of call for the suspention and go from there...

oxide thanks for the comments, just a couple of questions-

what drop do you get from these?

what is the ride quality like?

thanks

Also does anyone have any thoughts on spax springs (are they any good?)

I've got Spax springs with standard GTi dampers. I think they're ok, the ride is comfortable but i would prefer the ride a bit stiffer. My mate has PI springs on his GTi & they are a lot stiffer than my Spax springs.

I remember getting a lift home with him once after i had had a few social beverages & the hard ride made me feel sooooooo ill!

im in agreement with oxide the Interalloy suspension is brilliant. i had the kit fitted to my car just before xmas and has really improved the handling (without making it an uncomfortable ride).
The car feels more stable + responsive round corners and under heavy braking.
The kit only lowers the car by 30mm iirc but personally thats all i wanted (shitty roads in cornwall!)

my gti had standard shocks with PI or GMAX springs when i bought it and the Interalloy kit beats it in every aspect.

Hope that helps you make your mind up :)

Thanks for all your thoughts, think i'll probably go for the inter-alloy kit as it sounds ok from all accounts and resonably priced, buying shocks and springs seperate works out slightly more expensive, with no better results from what i gather.

Sorry for the delay chap, its -30mm, (personally id like a bit more but its the only kit they do, i asked)
Ride quality imo is spot on, takes bumps etc smootly but really eliminates body roll etc in the bends, im still very happy with my kit.
Hope this helps.
If you want an idea on how much drop it gives you i can post some side shots of my car??

I have Spax springs on standard 10 year old shox. I think the ride is stiff enough for me. Maybe a bit too stiff even (although this might be due to the 40 profile tyres, going for 45's next time). Handling is much better as well.
