Smoked repeaters

Hi guys & gals.

Well, the good news is that my smoked repeaters turned up! :shades:

The bad news is that I can`t use them! :angry:

The problem is the bulb holders, on the smokes they are 2 pin sockets, & the ones on the car have the wires crimped directly to the terminals. :roll:

Now, this may seem like a demented question, but can you get smokes with bulb holders without the terminals in, (so I can just transfer them from the standard ones to the new ones) or will I have to do a solder & glue combination to get these to work?

Anyone with smokes on their N16 had this?

Done it for myself and for lis and mine are still on (passed MOT etc) and still working and as far as i'm aware lis still has hers on.

follow my pic (done in 12 seconds on paint but i think it makes sense + it is 2am so i'm a bit away with it anyway). Technically i think you should be greatful for me taking the time out at 2am when i could be in bed. Maybe i'm nuts, nope i'm just a super helpful person.

STEP 1

REMOVE OLD WIRES + THE WHITE PART THEY ARE CONNECTED TO FOR THE OLD SOCKET


STEP 2

REMOVE THE NEW THING WHICH IS SUPPOSED TO HOLD THE OLD WIRES BUT DOESN'T FROM THE NEW SOCKET

STEP 3

FIT THE OLD WIRES + WHITE CONNECTOR PART IN THE NEW SOCKET AND FIX WITH BLUTAK

NOW I AM GOING TO BED

The reason for this is that they are actual designed for the new shape Micra (K12??) and as such have the connectors for the Micra.

I've got the smoked ones on mine and I've done the same as Shakey, except used Electrical tape rather than blutak. I was gonna take the time and rewire them but i havent got around to it yet (probably never will either). Mines have been on for around a year with no probs at all.

seriousy man it really isnt hard to rewire take 1 wire of at a time and solder/crimp/twist even the wires together and they swap straight over.

or as they othres have done find a way to make the old bulb holder stay in place within the smoked exterior cover - bluetak - eleccy tape - selotape
