Smoothed Boot Lid

Hey guys,

have seen that some people on here have smooth boot lids, just wondering how its done? and have you had any trouble re-housing your numberplate in the rear bumper? with the little lights? etc....thinking about having this mod done to my Mera soon...

Thanks,
Mick

i really like it, the front end looks so good. love the front lights and the grille. love the back bumper too. the bonnet looks really diff too with the carbon fabre just behind the vent. it may not be to everyones tastes but you all gotta admit its really well done.

Yeah the head lights make it look good i am not too keen on the arch around the wheels they look over done but its still a brilliant car :)

fucking nice looking kit any one no anything about the front lights he has

Its fairly simple job, mate

you can either get the phase 2 numberplate housing, which has all the lights attached, and get it plastic welded into your rear bumper,

like coare's done, see piccie

or iv done it differently, cut a recess in my phase 1 splitter, to keep the smooth theme,

see piccie,

NIce thing to smooth out the boot lid, there might be a problem with rust, how do you fix that guys? (rust is when the metall goes brown and it's not longer nice to look at :p - I don't know the english word for that..)

Yeah, rust is a good enough term for it

Mine (and I'd assume everyone elses) was done by welding a slightly curved plate across the recess and then using filler to smooth it all out

Properly wax oiled on the back (inside the tailgate) you shouldn't suffer rust on the boot any worse than you would on the rest of the car

... and the treatment's the same as anywhere else if it does happen

When you weld the plate on the bot lid, do you cut out the old lid then? - smooth it out on the inside? and then do a paint job there to? - so no rust bite's there... ?
