Hey there,

quite a while since I bought my mera the fuel consupmtion started to freak me out...kinda, I would like to get to the bottom of this so I was wonderin...

1) It is higher than anyone elses here at my place....dont ask the nubers cuz I dont know how to convert it to galons per whatever you have...anyway its 8-9l per 100km just for info....others have like 6.5-7.5 I guess

2) They think its the Lambda, cuz I can feel some fuel coming from the exhaust, may be rich mixture

3) I heard you can reset the fuel maps on the ECU, here the funny part starts :P....when does that happen, from all I know its when you unplug the battery for awhile....how long exactly cuz my point is when you do it and you are young, stupid just a fresh drivers licence....and you drive like an retard, does it remember this style of driving and sets the mixture rich, or its just baloney

4) Could be the spark plugs...

5) Could be someone really hates me and thats why its so :P

Any good tips would be rly appreciated, btw I have a GA14DE, yeah and dont bitch-slap me now till I tell you that nothin in the engine bay has been replaced...cuz like so much fuking retards had this car so I doubt that even the air filter was replaced :P

EDIT: forgot to mention that I drive a lil slower than I used to...under 60mph :), and ill just probably check the workshop manual and conect my mera to my laptop and check whats wrong,...

I'll convert for you and explain it so you can do it yourself.
1km = 0.6213 miles
So 100km = 62.13 miles
62.13 miles / 9 litres = 6.903 miles per litre
62.13 miles / 8 litres = 7.766 miles per litre

4.546 litres to 1 UK gallon.

So.....31.38 to 35.3 MPG

Seems a little low for that engine if you're driving sensibly.

If you have the consult interface then you can clear the self learn using Nissandatascan.
 
Have you tried a service and filter change? It could work wonders, along with some injector cleaner and cleaning/replacing the MAF and lambda sensors (but be careful!).
 
thx mark for the conversion thingie, well I just got curious bcuz everyone else had a lower fuel consumption than me...

Yeah, I have the consult cable but I only have a freeware soft called ECUTalk and im not aware of it having something to clear the maps(could be wrong tho)...and you mentioned Nissan datascan...is it downloadable....by any chance torrent-able :P

Ok enough about that....uhm filter...I guess aill go for the CAI, if you mean the fuel filte...better change that too,...about the injector cleaning...is it difficult to do it properly ? yeah and the MAF ...is it the resistor thingie in the intake that is messy?...and last but not least...I thought the lambda was fukd up...and would a cleanup do the trick cuz I guess it easier to buy a universal new to do the job

too many questions huh? never mind me...this year is special anywayz cuz Im about to do a whole makeover of my car so wish me luck, ill keep you posted...cheers

Reckon you could probably order one through a mechanic, or order one via pc world or computer shop!?

As for fuel mine seems to be like this tried the 02, no change at all. Done service,still no change! :rolleyes:
