Something has dropped off

A piece of metal has just dropped off from under my Almera. It's about 380mm by 170mm, curved with holes and mounted on two metal struts which have rusted through. It looks like a cover for something and has NISSAN and X3 embossed on it.

Any ideas as to what it is and what to do about it would be welcome.
