Hi all,
I have 2 questions for you:

Speakers Upgrade...
Was thinking of replacing the factory fitted speakers in my N15 Phase 1 1996 Almera Gti. I'm not interested in filling the boot with subs to be honest but I wouldn't mind swapping out the standard 6 speakers. Has anyone done this - any tips on getting off the plastic covers and what size and type of speaker will fit easily into the existing screw mounts.

Front spoiler search...
Oh yes its this old chestnut again.. I remember asking about this years ago but thought it wouldnt hurt to ask again. Is there anyone supplying N15 gti front spoilers? I broke mine parking and the car's just not the same without it. :(

Cheers

Thanks mate - that is really good news about the spoiler - Tried messaging "o_ dog" via the forum and it said unknown user... whats the best way to contact?

Try searching the members list at the top, if you click on his profile there should be a 'click here to send o_dog a PM' option?

Thats great - just sent a message. Hopefully I will get a reply and get a new front spoiler and restore the front to its former glory v soon. Thanks for that!

Regarding the speakers; I have checked the factory fitted speakers which are now over 10 years old and rasp a bit with a little bass and they look like 6 x 4 inches in the front door panels, small components in the windscreen uprights and 13cm diameter circles at the back.

I'm not sure if I can buy any standard speakers of those dimensions and expect them to fit without hassle. Any ideas?

Has anyone tried this?

Will any standard speakers fit ok? Also any advice on what will give a better bassier sound would be much appreciated. I put some Sony 6 x 9s in my previous peugot 205 gti and they were really badly painfully tinny. Which was ok as I had a huge sub but I really cant be arsed with putting a sub in the Almera as I need the boot space.

16cm multifit ones will fit the doors, sure thats what I have in mine. Anyway, just drill a second hole at the bottom and secure it via a screw in an existing hole at the top and one in the new hole at the bottom. Or make spacers out of MDF. The screw arrangement for the standard speakers is weird.

Ahh MDF mounts - nice one - thats a damn good idea. Guess that solves that one :)

Anyone got any ideas on brand choice for smallish (16cm, 13cm) speakers with a good rounded sound?
