Speakers

Does anyone know the sizes of the speakers as standard in the GTi's? As the ones I have in there seem quite lame, Also how the hell do I get the door panel off to get access to the speakers? I've been prodding prying and unscrewing and it doesn't wanna budge.
 
i have a sri and think there the same size mine are 6x4
i just undid all the screws on the panel and in the door handel and the little holder thing lol and gave it a big tug. but i need to find a panel to mount my new jbl 6x4 on to fit in the old hole
 
are your 6 x 4's mounted on a round metal plate? Cos I think mine are and I think I can put 6.5 inch componants in there but not sure.
 
Ditch the standard speakers, they are paper and can't take any power at all.
All the usual recomendations apply, really depends on how much you wanna spend.
Must admit, I have no idea how to get the door panel off as I'm a lazy fcuker and I just got my local car stereo place to do it all for me. :D
 
the fronts are 4x6 with some round metal plate which is almost but not exactly like a 6.5" plate, you need a spacer (mdf?) for a 6.5" to fit just like the other said, otherwise the speaker will bump into the door metal and windows.

i put only 5.25" in my front doors because i didn't want all the extra trouble a pair of 6.5" would give me. so sue me i'm lazy :)

the rears are 6.5" on the Sedan, don't know about the regular one.
 
use corsa or astra speaker mounts
the bottom 2 holes from the mounts fit fine. all u need to do is drill a hole for the top screw and use a nut and bolt or use a techbit.
alot easier than making ur own mdf mounts and u'll fir 17cm speakers in there
