my boot spoiler arrived today off ebay.. will i need to primer it before i spray it and also will i need paint for plastic or will a normal spray can do from halfords or something? also how is the boot spoiler attached to the car? any feedback appreciated.

You could try just using standard methods of Paint > Paint > Clear Laquer > Clear laquer > Clear laquer. Or actually go & buy a plasticiser then paint.

From what ive seen some are glued / bolted & some just glued.

dont try and do it without primer
if you do, give it a month and your spolier will look like what it did the day it turned up at your doorstep..........paintless

rub the spoiler down with some 600, dont go to mad tho, make sure all the shit is off it (normaly has flakey shit on it)
Primer
dry
Rub with wet and dry (1000) till its really smooth and peel free
Paint
dry
Laquer
dry
Rub with more 1000g till it looks dull (depending on how much laquer you use, dont rub to much) just till its a dull colour
then buff with corse compound
then fine (both with buffer)
then polish
will come out like glass and will last forever
as for fitting......not sure mate :o

what kind of spoiler is it? mine got ripped off by some punks and i bought a replacement of ebay and it was smaller so im still looking for a replacement.

Where abouts are you matey ?

Got a GTi tailgate with spoiler but would prefer the get rid of the whole lot as the spoilers are pretty difficult to get off without breaking

(and I don't have the time/patience)

im in stirling area in scotland. i know that they are hard to get off.
Thats why half of mine is still stuck on. Dunno if a whole tailgate is worth the hasstle mainly cos i dont have the storage for the spair. what colour is it?

rear spoilers are bolted & bonded on with the dreaded black "nissan" goo. not a job a would recomend doing unless you have too.
why dont you guys have a mini meet, swap over the tail gate then chuck the old one ;)

Ooof - probably the best way to do it but still a couple of hundred miles round trip :(

It's red - you couldn't drive with it though as there's no rear lights in it (although I do have some somewhere)

Dunno if Rick still needs a rear bumper - could organise a ... clay pigeon shooting day in the Lakes
