Hi

Right im looking to do a bit of spray work on me car, most likely be the corner splitters and splitter on front bumber and maybe the handles. Im gonna get the paint from Nissan (£5 for 150ml).

Is the order generally like this -

Clean surface
Spray with primer
Then do you sand it down to smoothen it then prime again
Then spray colour and thats it.

Is that right or have i missed or done too much? Rather find out now than once ive fooked it up!

Cheers
Dave

rub whatever your spraying with some fine sand paper (1000)
spray with primer
let dry
rub that down with some wet and dry (1500-2000)
clean thoroughly (clean water)
spray on paint
let dry
then laquer
if you want a glass finish, lay the laquer on quite thick, wait for it to dry, rub it down with some (1500-2000) (should look really dull)
then polish with a polisher with course polish, then fine. Then polish woth normal polish by hand.
As its just your splitter and handles, i would bother rubbing the laquer down, just get i nice even coat with the laquer, then polish with normal polish.

Hmm not a good time of year to be spraying paint mate :eek: its too cold for the paint to set between coats, you need a baking oven I'm afraid or get it done pro like :confused:

You dont even need to use primer in most cases. Youve seen the inside of me doors etc... , i didnt sand anything or use primer. Just cleaned it properly with panel cleaner (removes the previous laquer) which leaves it fairly rough anyway. just painted purple over green & laquerd.

Most things like my splitter and corner splitters I can removed to do maybe somewhere else. They dont really need to stay on car, its only handles i would leave on and I can grab a heater for em if needs be.

Cheers for the tips - I already have the primer anyway, cost £3.12 for the red one so prob best I use it as its black to red so im making it lighter
