sr20 drinking coolant

hey peeps
right ive recently done the conversion from 1.4 to sr20 and every things gone fine, noticed the coolant the other day was low so topped it up, checked again today and same it was low checked for leaks and nothing the rad pipes are soft wen grabbed any ideas on wat could be draining the header tank?

Could just be an airlock that has worked its way out. Check you're getting heat in the cabin and keep an eye on it over the next couple of days. They take a bit of time to settle in sometimes.

This. Did you bleed the coolant?

erm nope i wernt there wen it were being bled i was working a way and left it on my mates drive
hows best way to bleed it?

It sounds like its bleeding itself. Keep topping the coolant up till it settles down. Run/use the car with the heater set to hot so it circulates around the heater matrix.

heaters are working perfect, temperature is always on the button (about half way between freezing n oh fuck its over heating)
often get a woft of hot radiator smell through vents, usually after i've driven 30 mile to work n back lol

The smell could be residue coolant evaporting off, or a leak. The bottom of the rad tends to leak first, and will probably only leak under pressure ie when on the move.
Another weak spot is a metal coolant hose behind the head.

spotted the offending item ive got a small leak in the radiator, sourced another off to collect tomorrow cheers for all the help guys
