SR20 GTi Engine Swap

Hi,

What do you think about changing the engine of my Almera '96 (1.6 SLX) with an SR20 - GTi engine from an Almera 2000 model. Is this possible, should I change also the electrical part, gear box an other parts from the GTi? o_O Do you know if there is such a big difference regarding the chassis and the body between '96 and 2000 models?
Thank you

Been done hundreds of times, it's one of the best things you can do tbh, I'm sure some guys will be here to explain everything soon enough :)

You will need the engine, gearbox, mounts, driveshafts etc and the wiring and ecu. Swap is really easy tbh, one plug will be different on the looms between those years, all colours match and then there's 2 wires left iirc, one the injector live and the other is an earth, the other interior loom plug will plug straight in

Make sure you have all the nats bits, ecu, immu box and key chips

Some people have had issues with the linkages being the wrong length, I think they are still useable but sit wrong, mines a 95 and my linkages where fine so you may be the same

One smart guy (a mechanic) said that it will be very hard, because I have to swap also the dash board with all the wiring etc. I belive he does'n want to work too much. I'll find another mechanic. Thanks for your reply

Done it 5 time now and it can be done in a day... But would suggest to do it over a weekend.

take it to some one who knows what there doing ... Or if u have the know how... Do it yourself. ;)
