SR20De engine swap problems....HELP!!

Hi guys,

As some of you may know I'm sticking a GTi engine in the rally car.

Engine is in, looks good and all the wiring has been changed including the engine loom, dash and relay loom in the engine bay and ECU etc.

So I've got the car to swing over and I have the front headlights working and my window wipers working.

Only problem is the fuel pump isn't working and I have no rear lights. I also don't have any ignition lights for some reson.

The fuel is working as we've had it out and tried it. But there doesn't seem to be a live supply going to the fuel pump but the switch for the fuel levels has a live.Totally confused and don't know what to do now.

Could it be the ECU? I did lend it to a friend who tried to get his Almera running as he had problems with it so could this have locked my ECU???

Thanks,
Rob

It's a N14 Nissan Sunny engine.Every single bit of wiring has come off the N14 GTi engine I had in my white car.

I haven't got a clue now as to what could be wrong and it's driving me mad :(

Where's the 75 Amp main fuse?Is that the relay under the bonnet?

Checked all the fuses as well and the ones by the drivers knee are all fine

The Sunny has a fusebox/relay box on the driver side wing and also passenger side wing next to the battery.

I'll check tomorrow night now once I'm at it again and connect everything up properly and hopefully I'll have some luck.

Any reason why my dashboard ignition lights won't come on though? The engine check, washer and low fuel lights come on.

Worst case scenario....Could the ECU be locked as it's been plugged into and Almera?

Thanks for all the advice and suggestions. Will keep you all posted.

Thanks,
Rob

When my 75A fuse went, I had zero electrics at all, no lights, no needle movements on start up or anything.

They would all spring into life once the alternator had powered up off the engine.

And i've never heard of an ECU being "locked" unless you are talking about the imobilser, which I suspect you arent.

Problem is my headlights do work which is a tad confusing. My wipers also work as well.

Think I'm just going to have to put everything back as it was tidy and in place and then go from there and see what happens. There was an immobliser on the car before but it was only into the ignition wires.

The immobliser was only one of them ones that you swiped your hand over on the sill of the car. The only cables that came off the unit went to the ignition switch wires which I have now connected back up together in the correct order.

Cheers,
Rob

Head lights and wipers are on seperate fuses I think. Likely as they draw large amounts of current whereas your dash electrics are just mainly bulbs and smaller devices so theyre on smaller fuses which in turn is covered by the large 75amp fuse. When the 75amp fuses goes it seems to be hit or miss what actually doesnt turn on and what does

My micra had an issue where the rear bulbs all blew, it was caused by some of the dash wiring making contact with the chassis. Could be a short circuit?

Hi guys,

Connected everything up tonight again and put it all back tidy and I've still got the same problem.

I did look for a 75 Amp fuse but couldn't find it anywhere or I've been looking in the wrong place.

So still no dash lights, indicators, fuel pump or rear lights. :(

Giving up slowly....Might as well burn the dam thing!
