Starter moter???

Hi, woke up this morning and the car wouldnt start, Lights turned on, petrol in the tank:) could hear the starter moter click, but no spark. tried a bit later and it did start so i turned it of, now wont turn on again.
Im hopeing the brushes have got caked in carbon so will just need a clean.
Now here is my problem:) im an idiot and dont know where the starter moter is and good old Haynes doesnt show it.
A pic of where it is and anythin to watch out for would be great

But i'm not sure where it is on your almera, wont be that hard to find though i shouldn't imagine.
 
cheers guys, found it, got it out with a whole lot of effin and jeffin, brushes are screwed, now to find a garage that can fix it today.......
 
where to get a starter moter asap. been quoted 1hrs labor+ £120+vat just cant afford that:(
probably quite reasonable though

Anyone got one knocking about?
 
you wont an auto electrician place, most of them will refurb them, have a look in yellow pages
 
dunno where you are but i ahve a auto spares place nearby that do exchange units and give u it cheaper if you give them shafted stuff....
 
i thort i was the one with all the problems.lol. the same thing has just happend to me aswell.can you let me know how you get on with it and give me a few tips
 
Hi, thanks to everyone for their advice.
well..... where to start :P. A warning to all of u, if u ever see me walking down a street towards you, dont just cross the road run away.
As i have no real knowledge of cars, and all advice i got was over the phone, i diagnosed by brushes as F***ked, this wasnt the case, i called out the AA to tow me to the garage and he stuck his battery pack on and told me i was a big nancy boy and the battery was not holding charge, nothing to do with the Starter moter. I popped over to the local garage bought a battery and it was back to normal......
I feel i had accomplished something in my life that day, some kind of epipheny.....
i was chuffed that i removed the starter moter and put it back without killing it entirely but i have now learned not to touch things that i have no clue about, this will be by golden rule in life now. I can now go no where near my girlfriend now, but i have made this rule and will stick to it.
