Not really a styling thing more a practical thing but does anyone think the GTi steering wheel is too big and arkward? I sit quite close and it catches my legs and shit? Are they easy to swap?

yeah "normal sized" steering wheels are too big IMHO.

it isn't that hard to remove at all. the problem is that you have the airbag. you need it disable it so the airbag lamp doesn't light up (which it will)
the guys at the MOT will give you hell if they see warning lights like that blinging in their face.

anyway

if you're getting for example a MOMO steering wheel, you need a replacement collapsible hub for the new steering wheel.. you can buy that at the same place you buy the steering wheel..

as for the disabling of the airbag, i'm not sure about that procedure actually, i haven't done it myself yet. someone else might have info on it.

MOMO wheels are fockin' awesome.. they are simply great.. i had a MOMO Corse leather steering wheel on my 200sx and it was sweet.. the grip and control was great.

Thanks for the info - I find the standard leather wheel a tad slippy as well sometimes so fancied something smaller that you can whip round quickly and possibly made of foam or similar.

Practical and stylish - really like the one with red and brushed aluminium on the second link, i'll stop at my local car place and have a look! I recon it'd make drivin better for sure cos you cant take full advantage of the handlin with the massive standard one :(

got a momo 'jet' fitted to mine mate & the only real problems are air bag light, horn & indicators.
the air bag light i got round by blocking the light in the clock dials ( easy to do )
The indicators i got round by modifying the boss ( also easy to do )
The horn you cant use the one in the wheel unless you get a proper Almera Boss ( fat chance ) so I've wired up a separate push button mounted to my steering column.
btw i used a momo GTi-R boss

Airbag, pull out the 10 amp fuse :)

heheheh good one.. hey tech1.. you wouldn't happen to know the easiest way to remove the power to the electric windows? i need them to be disabled for the MOT next year .. (yes i got full front windows tinting)
i was thinking of lowering the windows, then pulling a fuse or something so they can't check the windows :)
