my cd player stopped working the other day so i thought i would check the fuse under the steering wheel it hadn't blown

so i swapped the cd player over and put my spare one in and it still doesn't work just no power going to it

is there any other fuses i should check or any ideas on what to do

Any under bonnet fuses that need to be checked? bad earth? run a volt meter on the permanent live and ignition line and make sure that there is current through both?

thats what i do when mine stops working in fact thats all i know how to do lol!

yeh, check for power with a meter. If i remember rightly (if you have an N15) the earth for the stereo goes through the ariel, so make sure thats plagged in aswell

Would guess it would probably be one of the above suggestions so just check the aerial lead is plugged in the back of the radio. Dont think the radio would run from one of the fuses under the bonnet but you could check the covers on them as it will probably say what each one is for just incase.

is it a case of the unit wont turn on with the ignition or wont turn on at all.

mine wouldnt turn on atall fro some reason never figured out why but after a bit of fiddling it started working again, it was the same with a different unit too.

the yellow cable, memory, remembers where the unit was when power was turned off and i think it tells the unit to turn on with the ignition, well ive had to run a cable from the battery to the yellow cable as the supply to the yellow cable is obviously not there anymore for some reason, was like that when i bought the car.

Check the
Live
Negative
Ignition

with a multi tester
seperatly too see if they are all working. the Negative might be the aerial

Live to car body (ground)

Negative to +12volts (direct to car battery or else where)

Ignition to car body (ground)

as above, but i'd say its the fuse under the bonnet, happened to me and i was panicking for ages and going mad cause i had no radio! then someone pointed out to me that there was a fuse under the bonnet, checked it and found out it blew!!
