last month the starter on my GTi slowly wound its self down till it would no longer start the engine, thought it was just old age, got another off a lad on here. fit it and it was spot on for a coupla weeks, but has jus done the same as the first 1??? seems strange!!
a friend seems to think that they may be gettin burnt out for some reason, i.e. too much power being sent to it from the alternator??
there are a coupla electrical problems, the central lockin sometimes opens and closes its self at random, whether the ignition is on or off!!
also the tacho has a mind of its own!! it can work ok or can sit off the clock!!
dont know if this could all be related but if any one can help it will be much appreciated, dont want to be buyin a starter every month!!
