sunny/almera gti gearbox

Hi all,

are sunny gti boxes the same as almera gti's in terms of mounting positions for back mount and side mount and will the sunny drive shafts fit??

i may be in need of one so if anyones got one spare could be handy as sunny gti's are getting ultra rare and will be easier to get a almera box. even if a primera box off of a egt or a black top gt woudl be an option if it will fit

what is the preffered ratio box to have, is there a more desirable box to have bar the n1 and the sr16ve box?

i'm pretty sure the sunny box will fit, but having looked into a similar thing recently i think the shafts are different. I'm guessing the almera shafts are longer as the track width of the almera is about 30mm wider.


someone mentioned to me about using the almera hubs and shafts in the sunny shell to get round this, dunno if it'd work. If so i may be looking for some sunny gti shafts and have almera shafts at the min - we could swap?!
 
nissan shafts are quite similar between all models, only thing that differs is the input end that goes in the gearbox.

i done a conversion with a n14 gti and put it into a b13 100nx, all the sunny gti stuff was a bolt in however it was a bit of a feat but ive had lot of experiance with most nissans.

in your case it may not be the shaft thats the problem, it may be the distance between the swingarm to compensate for the wide stance? if you used the almera swingarms on a sunny or a 100nx i would thing it would give uber camber! wohch is good if not too much however id have to give you info like how long my short shaft is on the 100nx (which is sitting on the floor right now cos of this box problem. and check against all the almera stuff

its only the almera swingarm that you possible need to fit to the sunny but id have to check measurment against my 100nx one and work out if this is possible how much front camber it would give you. if you wish to discuss more id be able to help at the present time that the cars in bits

however if anyone could confirm for sure that the sunny and almera box is a direct swap and if anyone has a spare would be great
 
Is the Sunny GTi an LSD box? If so, it will bolt up all the same but you will need the longer shaft from the Almera passenger side.

If it's an open diff on the Sunny, then it'll be fine.
 
cheers guys, no its a open diff inside so im leaning on a almera box being a option if mine fails

nos sunny gti, give me a shout when the box becomes avaliable, would only need the box but seems like craigti could do with the shafts
