Sup!!!

wassup!
Im new here!!
im 18 and a student so natuarally....im skint!!
i passed my driving test a couple of months back and im sharing my mums nissan almera. I havent driven too many cars but i really love my Almera for some reason. I want to increase the performance and efficency of the car but im on a tight budget. Im thinking of buying some performance spark plugs but im not sure they will make a noticeable difference, what do you think??
Also are induction kits easy to get for the Almera??
Ive got an S reg Si and its done 86,000miles

Heres a pic:
You can probally notice the unusual colour on the front bumper...i tried to touch some scrathes up but with the unusual colour its harder than it looks!

welcome mate.
first off performance and efficency doesnt work you can only have 1 im afraid. the more performance the less effecient its going to be.
performance spark plugs im guessing u mean a colder grade arnt really needed unless the engine is running quite a bit more power than it does standard.
air filter/induction kits are avaliable, K and N arnt very popular on here but piper cross and BCM seem to get good ratings.

as for the front bumper your car is tropical green a nice met green but as you said its hard to match somone on here should be able to give you the paint doce. :)

hows it goin mate, welcome to the aoc, as dobo said, theres not really anyway of getting performance and effiency!! search the forums as theirs a lot of useful info on there!! good luck

Stick with the original plugs in my experiences they are better, that goes for the leads too! Induction kits are nearly always easy to fit as long as you get a filter made for that engine.Don't expect more performance from it,if anything less.It will sound better though.btw your front bumper looks like it has a camoflage effect

Theres a k&n available for your car, it might be listed as the 1.6, but it will fit. the only problem is, it wont give any better performance due to the location of the filter, but it will be very loud. For spark plugs, use NGK.
Cool car though, Ive seen a 5dr SRI in that colour in Aberdeen, looks pretty rare!

i have an old k and n if you want it mate, pm me let me know, its for a 1.4, sounds great but is useless for performance,

serious dude?? that would be great! but you live ALL the way up in Dublin lol! have you got an ebay account btw??

guys thanks for the response:thumb:, ill definitely have a good look around here before fiddling with my car, the last thing i wanna do is ruin it!

So increasing the airflow wouldn't increase the efficiency?? so with the extra air, instead of running more lean the ecu would just give more fuel yeah?? that's what I'm thinking.....and if i was to get a new air filter the performance wouldn't increase much because.... I'm stuck there lol! I'm guessing it would have something to do with the exhaust?? its quite thin and maybe the exhaust gases cant get out quick enough to make any difference in power?? i dunno lol!

Anyway i was just wondering how many horses a standard GA14DE had. Wikipedia said 62kw which i worked out to be 80.6hp!! :( The car doesn't feel to slow. It has its days though were it feels proper lazy and that got me thinking how much power could have been lost in 87,000 miles?? what do you think?? i dont have a clue!

there is no power gain as the air which is being fed to the engine is the hot air around the engine as the filter will go on top of the engine.
and 80bhp sounds about right to me.

Sorry to be a damp squib, but check with your insurer before you fit any performance parts. If you're only 18, you'll probably find you won't be able to do anything and still afford it I'm afraid.

Cheers,

Joe.
