i was wondering if anybody on here had any knowledge of superchargers??....i can get hold of a cheap cooper s supercharger and got a mate who can do me an inlet manifold to fit the charger... but i was wonder how and where to connect the pulleys?? i presume it would be at the flywheel?? also its only a 1.4 so i don`t want a big big extreme power surge to blow the engine also i know im not going to turn this engine into something its not so before people say it would be easier to swap the engine don`t....anyways i was wondering what size pulley would you reccomend to run the s/c?? any help would be appreciated thanx..

edited:oops i put it in the wrong section could someone please put into the right section for me please ta

Ask KevShek about supercharging GA14 engines. He did his almera few years back and blew the engine.

It's not a bolt-on, you would have to uprate everything in the engine to be able to handle it including pistons, con-rods, rings, bearings and god knows what else.

There really is no point and you'll end up wrecking your engine.

/\ Agree. Get a SR20DE and Supercharge that :)

No dont, as you would have the same problems!

And he said he doesnt want an engine swap.

Correct me if im wrong but a supercharger is belt driven by the cam pulley is it not? The flywheel is never directly involved?

okay guys and gals been thinking bout it and i didn`t really wanna swap engines but my wife has given me the go ahead to do it if i want to :O .... so i was wondering would a sr16ve go straight in with the oringinal loom?? by the way guys im running a ga14de also waying in my options for a sr20de....what would i need to change engine wise...i persume the full engine and transmission, loom, driveshafts... would i need to change th hubs and suspension?? would it be a good idea to buy a salvaged gti and use what i can off that?? again anyhelp would be appreciated.

while were on the subject on engine swapping. are there any major difficulties in putting the gtir lump in the gti. may have to have some crank work done but instead this is looking like a real option to me. any body have any info??

GTiR swap into the GTI is very simple.

Use the GTiR engine, ECU & loom.

Use the GTi flywheel (enlarge the holes to fit the crankshaft of the GTiR), clutch and g'box.

Mounts are the same.

Only issue is the hanger bracket for the o/s driveshaft, but that really is a simple fix.

no you would need the loom and the ecu, drives too maybe

anyone now how difficult it is to change the loom i have no problem of swapping an engine from same type but never had the pleasure of installing a bigger engine.. also with having nats security wont the ecu need reprogramming for my key??
