Am I correct in saying that 6 months tax for a 1999 1.6 Almera Ambition is £66

Thats what I thought too, however I searched for tax prices online and its saying 66. I also have a 1.6 Escort estate and thats 101.75 which is what has confused me

6 months tax on a 1.4 is £66... Think the upper tax band starts around 1.6.

parkers show the 1.6 ambition as having the same BHP as a 1.4... so i reckon they have completely wrong info on the car.

they are in the upper bracket, 105ish for 6 months, 180 for a year...

Before 2001 tax is simply up to 1.5 and 1.6 and over with it being 66/105 (6 months) and 115/180 (12 months)...at least till april lol.

You will pay the same to tax your 1.6 as my dad does on his 4.2 V8 400bhp TVR. Doesn't help you, but quite a cool fact lol.
