technical advice please

Hi there.

Just looking for some help for my friends broken Almera. It is a 1999 5dr Automatic, with a faulty starter motor.

The question I have is, what type of starter motor do we need to fix the problem? Google has been of no real help.

Also is there any good advice or tips on how to more easily replace the starter? It looks like it has to be done from underneath, but any good tips greatfully received.

Phone your local dealership pal, they will give you the part number you need.

As for removal i'd say underneath.

Hi you didnt say what engine it was , 1.6 or 2.0, there not to bad to to depends what engine lol, one of them jobs that needs to be done on the forn and over the bonnet,

as for parts you can source a reconditioned exchange unit from you local motor factors would be best and cheapest. or nissan of source but i would think it to be more expensive, recondition bits are fine if from a local motor factors and normaly come with a years warranty anyway if you get and problems

Good Luck

itll be a 1.4 or 1.6, from underneath, may need to remove the manifold support brace if its anything like the 2 litres

Can only be done from the top. Its below the airbox, on top of the gearbox, pointing towards the engine on the passenger side.

thanks guys, I was under the impression that the auto box was only fitted to the 1.6 engine, as it is I don't know much about these particular cars, and am only trying to help out a mate who has no car know how at all.

does the starter differ between auto/manual cars?
