the bane of my almera

This is the reason why I aint got my car sorted out and back on the road, too busy using my spare time playing with this one(and its much cheaper and I dont have to pay for the mods or running costs lol), I think its turning into a 'mini me'.
A Saxo VTR, not as bad as people will have you believe. 112,000 miles, and the only other thing thats broke that hasnt been a servicable item is a lambda sensor, and its still really a servicable item anyway.

These wheels are going back on soon though, just had the bent one fixed, thinking about painting them black though.

looks nice, didnt phase 1 saxo vtr's not have the spoiler? thought they did:S loving the smooth boot looks miles better with it.

mate has a VTR and that aint got one. Might be the VTS (dont know difference myself! )

Is this the missus' car then? If you go black wheels, get the brakes painted up in a bright colour! ;)

Suprised at you having one of those fuel caps things!LOL

pretty sure the VTR is the 1.6 105bhp and the VTS is the turbo model at 130bhp, my neighbourgh has the phase 1 with the spoiler in silver and my old teacher had a two-tone model(straight from the factory, not custom) again with the spoiler, must have been an optional extra.

no, vtr is 1.6 8V, and vts is 1.6 16v, no turbo or anything like that

i see, so those extra 8valves give it an extra 25bhp and a massive insurance jump... lol id stick with the VTR, the VTS came with dual exhaust aswell didnt it? havent seen many VTS's but there is alot of VTR's, there all over the meets i go to.

the VTS has 30 more horses, and is alot quicker, i could keep up with vtr's in my sri, but vts's blew me away. id have the vts if i was going to get one, but id rather stick with an almera :)

sorry about the thread hijack, its one of the cleanest ive seen, they look shite with big bodykits etc imho

The VTR has 90 BHP then i think it was upped to 105BHP. The VTS has 120BHP and is quick 0-60MPH in 7.9secs and can keep up with the GTI to 60-70mph. Naylor think it would look better with a spoiler and i wouldn`t paint the wheels black.

they actually restricted the exhaust system on the VTR to make the BHP gap between that and the VTS bigger.....so i was told

The VTR is quite torquey as well for a small car. Some prefer it to the VTS.
VTR`s do sometimes come with a roof-tip spoiler.

It was a optional extra on the Mrk 1 VTR's, this did have one, but took it off, looks better without it with smoothed tailgates

yep, her car, black wheels and brightly painted calipers would look a bit max power, and the brakes aren't big/good enough to want to draw attention to them.
I dont really like the petrol cap either, but some things I let her get away with, it means I can save my opinion for the bigger things lol, at least its a proper one and not a stick on :uberlol:

I reckon the vtr's a much better buy too, the vts is much faster up to about 90mph, after that, becuase of different gearing, the both seem to pull the same, but the figures dont show that, but Ive had a few encounters with other vts's and stayed with them upto 130mph-ish and both topped out side by side.
also, you get group 7 insurance instead of 14, you get about 400 miles to a tank normal driving(including foot down, and sensible driving), have had over 600 on a run down to jap fest a few years ago, the vts gets about 200 miles to a tank lol, plus the vts is a lot more unreliable, the sensors fuck up all the time on them. the other plus point is being 8 valves, you dont feel the need to scream everywhere, you can be darting through traffic and getting to where you want to go quickly, without bouncing off the redline everywhere.

Handling on this is awsome though, right hoot to drive, it makes me drive like a saxo wanker, so guess thats where the phrase 'saxo wanker' has come from lol

Thats what I was told too, when we put the exhuast and decat on it responded well, but the manifold didnt give as good gain as I expected, but I think thats due to the manifold being a 4-1, good for high revving engines, but it should of been a 4-2-1 for a 8 valve engine

The thing that makes me jealous though, is the price of stuff I get things for her for, I mean, £300 for the interior, £50 for the wheels thats on, £50 for the manifold, rear lights £35, smoothed boot and rear bumper, £150 already done. So cheap to mod and find second hand parts for.
But then you always have, just another saxo lol, of course, if that kinda thing bothers you

Thats a good point, mate stuck one on his escort ( ) from MPower or somethin. Had the fold in it where the mag had been folded too!! Looked proper shocking!!! and didnt fit! :slap:

isnt that a dimma alloy fuel cap and not one of those shite stick on's?
