Tino will not start - NATS problem?

Okay, my 6 year-old Tino has developed a major problem. I will not start at all. This is what is happening. When I put the key in the ignition and try to turn the car on, it doesn't turn over and the red NATS icon on the dashboard (car with a key in it) flashes a few times then stays on steady. "Please Wait" comes up on the console and either stays there, or the console comes up as normal. Turning central locking on and off a few times sometimes allows the engine to turn over without starting, then it just goes back to the way it was before - just totally unresponsive.

Im just a couple of miles from my nearest Nissan centre (Hursts, Boucher Rd, Belfast) but due to past experiences with them, coupled with VERY bad press a while back about them, I am very reluctant to get them to do any work on the car.

Any help, advice or suggestions would be extremely welcome.

Have you tried disconnecting the battery for a time? It could be more complicated than that but it's worth a try :).

There is a way to reprogram the nats yourself.. might be a case of basically syncing the key again.. or replacing the battery in the fob? That can sometimes cause issues..

If i find the howto redo your NATS. I shall pm you the link so you can give it a go.

Having the exact same problem with 2004 Almera. I've been 5 times to the dealer so far with no luck ... This is driving me crazy almost once at 2 days ...
There is a procedure in the manual saying how to make NATS to "learn" the key again (put the ignition to on for 5 secs, the back to off 5 secs, then again, ... ) but it does not work all the time for me. I usually turn the steering wheel until it locks (leaving the key out), and the car will eventually start.

Do you have any permanent resolution yet to your problem ?

Thanks
