Tino

HI ALL, JUST PURCHASED MY FIRST EVER NISSAN, THE TINO 1.8SE AUTOMATIC 2004.
ANYBODY ELSE OUT THERE OWN THIS MODEL AT ALL THAT CAN TELL ME ITS PRO'S AND CONS?.

Hi mate, my stepmum went from the 1996 SRi to the Tino. She hated it though  But the boot space was bigger (Enough for both dogs and the shopping) and thats what she needed.

Ta for the replies ...yes i got it for the cavernous boot also ,and Nissan reliability ( i hope) ,i assume all the" moving parts "are the same as the rest of the Almera range?, seems most of the Tino's are sold by the dealers, not too many private sales, strange or what ....

check that all the recalls have been carried out

handbrake
rear seat belt buckles
cam and crank sensors

just to name a few

Yeah they're basically an N16 underneath although a lot of people would argue that makes them a renault  How are you finding the economy?

Hi, will have to check out the if the recalls have been done...have not given it a good run yet to try the mpg ,just hope its better than my auto Daewoo Leganza was ,22mog in town.28mpg on a run, aghhhhhhhh!.
Can i ask what an N16 relates to please?.

N16 relates the chassis. Almeras made from 2000 (so a mark 2 Almera) are based on the N16 chassis. In Australia they have Pulsars, sedan and hatchback like here using the N16 chassis and in America it's slightly different with the Sentra being made with the B15 chassis which shares many similarities to the N16.

Thanks for that info ,it all helps in the "learning curve"............. can you tell whats is the recommended gap between chamging cam belts is (1.8 SE) , the garage man said 90,000 miles , is he having me on as every motor i have owned was a 40,000 gap, ta in advance of any reply.

It's a chain not a belt, so could explain why he recommends a high millage interval. But if he said belt then he may well just be having you on.

Timing chains should last a quarter of a million miles...unless they are made by nissan. They are shocking.

Mine went after 60k and we've had another on here who's chain was going after 36k!!!! Apparently the key is regular servicing and oil changes, but I think that's bullshit knowing how mine's was serviced.

Be prepared to pay a grand to a main dealer for this job, or the best part of £500 to a local garage.
