what difference does it make if you fit a 1.6 almera top end onto a 1.4 will it give me a bit more power or is it impossible to do

if your talking about cylinder head, i wouldnt bother, the gain would be so minute it would make more differenc if you went for a crap before you drove the car

yes, get yourself a 4-2-1 header and it will transform the engine and will pull freely way round the rev counter and wont run out of puff. You never knwo now tommos got a GTi you may be able to have his header if he breaks the car for parts.

I barely noticed any difference in performance on my sri with a catback, decat and induction kit however, when i got the 4-2-1 manifold it gave me a massive smile, frees the engine up nicely and unlocks some power too.

Put it this way when i didnt have a Stainless manifold i got a 17.3 1/4 mile time in my 1.6, when tommo went down the strip he got a 17.4 with his header fitted

the 1.6 cams lobes are only 0.5mm taller than the 1.4 cam lobes and its only on the intake if i remember correctly.

i believe the only cam option we have is getting a new profile reground from standard cams or get some JWT cams from america

regrinds are £200 from newman cams just need oversize shims

no mate, i think they might supply but obviously its one of those jobs that has to be done whith the complete head in front of you so you can measure up. they literally just do a supply service. you send a set, they grind them down to imitate the profile you want and send them back. you then make up the gap with bigger shims. i only rang up for a price and to get a vague idea what the situation was. hope it helps

You`d have to measure the new tolerances and buy suitable thicker shims, from nissan to suit.

OR an N16. Even the 1.5 is quicker than 1.4 and 1.6 as proven at Crail recently

Fit the 1.6 engine, it runs off the 1.4 ECU fine apparently. Check the fitment of the gearbox, clutch and flywheel too as not sure what combination you would need. 25hp and a fair few more torques for 2 days work and probs about £100 for a new engine.
Any GA16DE out of an almera will do, SRi's are not mechanically different.
