turbo-ing a n15

right,
just to let u guys know i pick up my new almera gti tommorro (the 2nd one i have had in 3years)and with my last one being very quick i nearly went down the route of turbo-ing buy putting a gti-r in it but i was told buy a local garage at the time that it would basicly be a pain in the arse beacause there isnt much room in both engine bays??how hard is it to turbo a gti without putting a gti-r engine in in it and buying a kit?will the engine be able to take alot?
and has anyone done it on here?if so what are your thoughts about it.

well...............................
i think it mite be easier to just stick a gti-r engine in?
im aiming for 200bhp out of this almera turbo or no turbo

Several people Down Under have done it, there are basically two methods to it.

Engine swap (GTi-R, Bluebird U12/U13, Avenir)
- Source engine of choice + ecu, wiring etc
- Upgrade fuel pump
- Swap engines over

Some guys have been know do do engine swaps over the weekend, one has done it in just over 24 hours.

Bolt on aka "+T"
- Source parts of choice (manifold, turbo, dump/down pipe, ecu, MAF/AFM, injectors, fuel pump)
- Remove and replace
- Tap water lines, oil lines etc

+T conversions are a bit more fiddly, but yield better results thanks to the higher compression.

Hope this gives you an idea.

200bhp is a tough and expensive figure to reach N/A.. A GTiR engine is also expensive.

But if you take your time and shop around for turbo parts, you could get your standard almera GTi engine running 250bhp ish safely for a reasonable price.

Im driving around in an almera GTI with a Turbo Conversion..

Ive done all the work myself..

Have a look at:

-Kristians Ph2 GTI- in 'Members Rides for a heads up..

200 is achieveable at less than 5 Psi.. Which is nothing...

Im aiming for 300bhp for under 1,600quid using all new parts ( bar turbo and injectors ) and doing all work in my workshop..

This is with uprated HG and Head studs

All I need now is the new managment..

Why are people aiming for certain figures? I could brag that my audi a4 v6 was 165bhp, but it wouldnt count for shit cos its a big heavy car. you should be bragging at the least about an N/A car than do a 1/4 mile in under 14seconds, then theres proof its quick.
