Turbos and chips for fuel efficiency?

I have a 2002 Almera SVE with the 1.8 petrol, and was hoping to make it more fuel efficient. I was just wondering what turbo to get for it, and if I should get a chip of some sort. Any ideas?

Pointless for mpg.
Best thing you can do is keep it serviced correctly and less pressure on the pedal from your right foot

there are lots of units out there which will run it better than it is now. you dont have to get a power remap. it can get remapped to delivery more effiency too. and yes chris dastek is one of them. dont know many other aystems that are a seperate units. compared to a nistune/ecu is available for a n16 chassis?

and yes i reckon if your planning to have the car for long time. then it may pay for its self after a year or 2?! :)

Thats just bad information. We dont even know it can be mapped, and even if it could, an `economy map` would gain what? 1-2 mpg at the most....so it would pay for its self long after the chain would have snapped or stretched.

To sum up the 1.8 is very thirsty, so you bought the wrong car for economy.

going by the official specs the qg15 is gives low 40's mpg and the qg18 high 30's, but from the real world I was lucky to get 30-35mpg with the qg15, while dave is running into the low to mid 40's with his qg18 sport.

.....phone.....

Snap. I had the same. Same cars, same driving, same roads, putting the 1.8 in increased mpg. But in the real world its all about bhp>mpg.
