Tyre Pressures for 17's...

howdy! ive just got myself an almera gti and its come with 17's on... does anyone know what psi i should have back and front? or can anyone recommend values? cause ive had a hunt around, and i can only find the manufacturers stuff for the 15's, and im guessing it will be different.

Cheers!

It will be different. You'll need a higher PSI because if your low profile tyres are soft you'll kill your alloys when you hit a nasty pothole.
Mine are rated at 36psi max so I have them at 32 all round, 33 if the car is fully loaded but I'm sure others will have their own opinions (and probably better informed than me, too).

I run my 17's at standard pressures (same as what the 15's should be). I don't know if it's correct but it works fine for me, they wear evenly and give a good ride.

The standard pressure will be fine as the pressure is determined by the weight it holds up ( thats why you increase the pressure for heavy loads ). The tyre sidewall should be stiffer which will compensate for the lack of profile. You could experiment 2/3 psi either way to see if it handles better. Always check the pressures on cold tyres and use a decent gauge ( Garage forecourt ones get dropped and driven over ! )
