tyres?!

right, iv got flat spots on my front tyres and at about 70mph the steering wheel starts shaking (good in a way cuz it stops me speeding lol) i thought well i'll just wait untill the tread has worn down more then get some new ones. there on there way down now so was just wondering what tyres to get and how much to pay? i dont wanna pay too much though. iv only ever brought tyres in the past for my old car which had 17" alloys on so i always got budgets, with it only being a 1.4 didn't see a problem doin that, but i dont want them on this.
btw its only on that standard gti alloys.

Just looking into this myself, and tbh it all depends on how you drive and what you actually want from your tyres.

I've had some very cheap Nankang NS-2's in the past, in both 17" and 18" form and they are surprisingly good. In 195/55/15 size they are only £30.80 each from mytyres... and if you buy four you don't pay postage. £123.20 for fours wheels is a bargain you have to agree.

try going to black circles

They do very competitive prices and also find the nearest garage to fit them for you. You can also have a play with changing the profile and width etc to see how you can change the price! have a look here www.blackcircles.com/

Ill quote the track king for what tyres he uses

I use those too* ;) Really can't fault them. As I said in the other thread...they're £100 a pair fitted, and rate better than Toyo TR-1s in some categories.

*on recommendation from Rowdy :P

I used to have KU31's all round on mine, although I only have them on the back now. They do last a long time.

im sure i paid just under £30 a tyre for 195/50/15 falken ZE512 from mytyres, good service aswell.

i miss my old ventus k102's, paid £7.50 a tyre for them and i would swear the back was better with them than with the falken ZE512's on it, felt more planted although they squeeled like hell sometimes, was good in a way though as it was like an early warning that they might let go soon, lasted well aswell, would still have them now if it wasnt for the tracking :O

the best tyres ive ever had were Hankook ventus sport, loads of grip, have to really try hard to make them squeel, wear well and even on low grip they are hard to spin, even in the wet, couldnt believe it.
