*URGENT* Car misfiring!

I got a 1998 ph2 1.4 Almera. I've had the car for 3 weeks and yesterday I went out and started fine started driving to work and It conked out and wouldn't start so I pushed it to side of road and then it started but it was very hard to gain over 4k revs (with the foot on the floor neutral) I managed to get it to work on the way home I was driving in second with foot to floor and it couldn't kick over 2k out. Today I went out and drove round the block it missed again (spluttering and power loss) but it was fine. I've had this with another almera instead of fixing it I got rid of it I was just wondering what the problem could be? It was hard to start this morning feathering the throttle while ticking the revs slowly went up and it started. Just wondering what it could be? Thanks Jordan x

Sounds like a bunged up back box. I had the exact same symptoms. Unbolt the back box and see if it then revs. I should imagine with a torch you will be able to see the baffles have collapsed.

Backbox seems fine ill disconnect later yeah I thought fuel pump and I've had a listen and a look at the pipes they look fine
