Here's the problem, when trying to start my VZR today, everything seems fine until you go to start the engine, the engine will tick over but will not fire up, when you turn the key fully the engine light flickers on the dash and a relay under the ecu and under the ignition click together in time with the warning light flickering? any ideas on whats wrong? im baffled

You mean its turning over but not firing? First things first, did you try to jump start it????

By pushing it? Or using a jump pack? Ye would have to put a new batt in it for starters cause thats what it sounds like!

i'll tell ya the full story then..

he was trying to install an apexi rsm into the car, he got the wires for the ground and power and connected them, after he connected these two wires, he tried to start the car to see if it the display would come up on the rsm screen.. but instead of not coming up, the car didnt start either!!!

battery sounds quite healthy!! they tried to jump start it by pushing it!

also, the lad had his starter motor reconditioned two weeks ago if thats of any relevance, but i dont think it is because if it was the starter motor, it still would have started on a jump!?

may be a relay? all fuses were intact and none blown so i'm told!!!

these power and earth feed's, they taken from or close to the ecu? have you try'd removing the rsm and seeing what happen's?
i think that would be my first port of call, my guess is the wrong wire has been tap'ed into and something has blown, hopefully a fuse or relay but a dead ecu isn't unreasonable,
i don't want to sound negative (see what i did there?) but 5min's after playing with the ecu wiring the car doesn't start doesn't sound very good to me... :(

rsm was taken out straight after this happened as far as i can remember, tested the ecu for power and there was still power going to it!! all the wires that were sliced were masked up..

hopefully he hasn't reset the ecu or something..I was warned to disconnect the battery before attempting anything when i was fitting mine..I even pulled fuses to be sure....be a nightmare trying to find an ecu for a N1

do you have a wiring diagram to check the ecu out put's?
i'd set about changing all the fuse's and relay's but at the back of my mind i can't help thinking it sound's like it's the ecu that's at fault.... :(

I don't think i would be the ecu unless it was totally done fckn backwards inside out! Its very difficult for people here to guess whats wrong, whoever fitted it needs to start from scratch and go over everything!

but he never disconnected the power could be a slight surge has reset it? not sure..what you reckon? but theres no fuses blown no circuits broken..is it unlikely to damage the ecu? I was warned to have no power to the ecu when i fitted mine probably just precaution

he only started to install the rsm, so he only sliced two wires, could it have been a relay? doubt it would have been the ecu though.. maybe do a simple diagnostic on her?

Well if he only spliced into two wires i really don't think it would be the ecu and what wires were they?

power and ground..
he was hooking up the rsm to these two to see if he could power up the rsm..

Ignition was off i presume, just have to run the self diagnostic and see what shows i think, although he might have to clear the fault/faults first to pinpoint what it is!

ignition was off when he was cutting the wires and that.. but then, when he connected the wires... he turned the ignition on!!!!!!

yeah.. let him do the diagnostic and see what happens!!!
