i have recently bought a 97 pulsar vzr.i have two problems.1.my lsd clicks on full lock,is this normal?
2.i have a bit of play in the steering wheel, ive checked tie rods, balljoints in wishbones, they have no play in them.so im reckoning it has to be the steering rack.can you backlash the steering rack or is it fixed.confused
any help appreciated.

That is most likely your CV joint clicking on full lock!

Post some pics of your motor? There are a good few Irish VZ-R owners here! Welcome

1.Are you 100% sure it's coming from the lsd? Have you got lowering springs or coilovers fitted?

2.When you say play in the steering do you mean when you grab the steering wheel can you feel a slight movement in the steering column itself or further down?
Backlash, you probably can but it's unlikely it needs to be done?

3.Where in dublin you from, get some pics of your motor up!

tha click is your cv joints lad..id bet my neighbours pig on it..could be just the boot that is torn..play in the steering is not right

there is about an inch play in the whell from side to side, thus making the steering very non responsive.i heard the cv joints are e1000 each,is that true?im from ballinteer.

1000 is a bit expensive.. but its not far off... heard their nearly 650 to buy from nissan and they have to be imported from england or japan, then your talking about fitting, depending on the fitting price it will be maybe 750 - 900 imo...
best bet if your going to get a new cv is to go to ep mooney down on the naas road, their the main irish nissan dealers so their parts department would be the best in the country
would you every be up in drimnagh? what colour is the car? i might have seen you around, i'm normally up in the crumlin/kimmage area now and again!!

Didn`t a VZR owner try fitting a GTi CV joint off ebay for around £35?.....can`t remember the outcome.

think that couldve been Muttly but i'm not sure!

but i've rang ep mooney meself for a cv and was quoted the above prices!!! its crazy how expensive it is.. places that refurb the cv's wont do them either

jdm try a scrappy, think there maybe one or two vzrs being broken at the mo!

how could they charge 700 euro to buy it and another 700 to fit. buy it at a scrapyard and I'll fit it for ya for free.
