Hi just joined forum

Just wondering what size alloys fit an N reg 1.4 (tempo or whatever - im presuming they are all the same?)

Plannin on lowering the car too.......

Also - importantly - what cars do wheels that fit this almera fit.... ie are they Ford fitting.....or Vauxhall.....etc? I have some 17"s on a Mondeo that I might want to put on - and would like to know if they will go on......and if I can lower it aswell? Any info appreciated!

Thanks!

PCD (Bolt Pattern) is 4x100

If its gettin lowerd n all , id say stop at 18" x 7.5" but 19's might work.

One thing to remember though , being a moderatly underpowerd 1.4 (i know the feelin) 17"'s on mine made a noticeable difference in performance so the bigger it gets the worse its gonna get.

17's are also virtually the same diameter as the original wheels so the speedo aint out by much. Would imagin 18's & over would be slightly more out

To back up the issue about 17`s, i did a test last night by putin one of my old 17`s alongside the original GTI alloy. If anything the 17" is slightly smaller than the GTI alloys due to the profile differences, therefore puting 17`s shouldnt effect performance in anyway. So its usually safe to stick to 17`s wouldnt go any bigger if performance is an issue.

the 17"s would slow you down if they are heavier than the standard rims, which in most cases they are, esp with people who only had steelies on before, theres a equation that says some thing like for every pound added on the wheel, its like 2 stone in the car
the 17"s are slightly smaller too, so your speedo will over read even more over the top than it normally does(which it does by a lot)

Yeah my speedo reads well over the actual speed. Using GPS my speedo reads 60mph when im actually doing 55mph.

They do effect it mate although i cant imagin it would be much n a GTi , but they kick the shit out of 1.4's.

Their virtually the same size yes , but ur replacing rubber & Air with metal

Unless u buy summin like Toora Pindrives lol , then ur replacing rubber & air with err... Air :)

if your going for looks & handling get 18"'s they'll fit straight on no probs & look the biz.
for speed 15" seem to be the best in my opinion, just put my 15" winter wheels on not to long ago & i noticed the difference straight away

how about meeting half way with 16's? nobody seems to have mentioned those. had a set of oz 16's 205/45profiles, on my si, and thought they did just enough(lowered obviously)looks wise, and they did wonders to the handling. will be putting them on the vz-r when i can get round to lowering the beast.

I am a complete novice when it comes to modifying.

When you lower you car, are the only parts you need new springs? If so then they are not too badly priced are they (under £100 from needforspeed).

Depends how low you wanna go

Shorter springs work , but fk up ur Shocks quicker. Can always buy new ones of them aswell like.

or Double what youve spent there & buy coilovers (Shock & Spring in 1 piece) which tend to be height adjustable and can go alot lower than any aftermarket springs

Ultimatly... better handling aswell

Where can you buy them from?

Also is it a DIY job to fit them or best left to a garage if you are not 100% sure you can do it yourself? I am willing to give things a go but I don't know how easy or hard it is.

Depends on tool's really , if youve got access to em & someone to give ya a hand + a Haynes book i dont see why not.

As for the coils , Sure theirs Daiyamas going about now for the N15 Almera at £550 or summin , BnG made some before i joined up in a Group buy but id imagin they'd be over a grand seperate.

Tein also make some for the Sentra , but thats not gonna be a straight swap & probably cost about £700
