as you might be able to see, the car has seen better days..., there is a long list of what i would like to do with the car(respray, alot of ICE, coilovers etc...)but im stil not sure weather or not it is "feasable" to bring it out of its current condition... its just had a new clutch and gearbox, but is bellowing blue smoke:(
I would like peoples opinions... i dont want a GTI, because speed doesnt really bother me, and if i was going to buy a new car id get a convertible... just wondering if i should or shouldnt reduce this car to scrap...

be a good project, look in the GA tuning section at the 1.4 to 1.6 post, not meant to be that difficult so if the 1.4 is going then you may aswell put a 1.6 in it. common sense says its a waste of time and money but maybe to you its a worthwhile project

Project definately! As its a lower end model it would be a better project as no-one really wants to pay much for equation spares so breaking it would be a little bit pointless.
Track car? GA16DE+T?
Red top?
Just ideas but hey ;)

depends how much to fix up, if its more than the cars worth scrap it, if the problems are cheap to sort fix them stick 1 years mot on and sell it. The engine is not really worth spending money on

If you're not bothered about speed as you say, I'd get it running and sell it as people have said, then buy something like a 1.4 Si, which is a nice balance between looks and an economical, reliable car! Would save you money in the long run as the things i'd imagine you'd want to do (colour code the bumpers etc) would already be done.

you have same mats as me, lol, don't get dog shite on them and put them in wash cause they won't be stiff and will fold up and go under your mats...not that it's happened to me *looks away*

scrap it aswell

The blue smoke doesn`t sound good.....sounds like an expensive repair or new engine. The only option may be to scrap it.

hmmmmm would be a prime car to use for a engine swap.!! wish mine looked like that, it would be a great sleeper.. would be pretty light too, completly stripped without any electrics.

pikeys might give 50 squid..spend that on booze and forget about it...how much does one of these sell for in pristine condition? if thats your first car you want something reliable its essential with new drivers..you dont wanna spend your time up to your tits in repairs..or maybe you do and your a apprentice mechanic

hmmm...doesnt blueish smoke indicate burning oil or something like that??
I say try an engine flush and put new spark plugs in and see what happens. How many miles has it done btw?

I say keep the car for a while. It seems a waste to scrap it after a new gearbox and clutch...
I think it would look real nice with colour coded bumpers, smoked rear lenses and black wheels.
Interior looks nice and clean too.

i say, engine transplant, and make it into a nice track car, strip it out, bigger engine and have yaself a bit of fun :)

i still dont know what to do:S, im currently driving a new renault megane DCi, and was considering to buy a convertible to kit out... but i was sat with my mate the other day, and he suggested the almera again:D, that same day my dad bought my brother a new car, leaving the almera undriven...
again speed isnt an issue, as im not a boy racer(i drive a 1.5 diesal for god sake lol)
what i want is a cruiser. there would be new bumpers and a full respray, so colour coding isnt a concern, also electric windows and new interior is a must. Im going to have a real good look a the car tommorrow and see what needs doing.

To be brutally honest mate, id throw it in the bin, sell all salvageabe parts on here or
eGay and wait for a bargain Sri-Si with high milage to pop up.
