SR20DE Help

Just chillin'
ok Basicly I am thinking of buying a SR20DE from a Primera P10 instead of using a thicker head gasget to lower the compression could I use S14a Pistons and Crank and etc etc to lower the compression?

Thanks
Darren

I wouldnt bother lowering the compression for that, one step at a time darren get the sr in and working first

true but I am getting a SR20DE from a friend soon and I wanted to rebuild it so I was wondering why not build it up as a SR20DET rather then lowering the compression after. and cutting the front end to get FMIC pipes and etc etc.

dont lower compression darren or you will reduce the off boost driveability of the engine.

at most maybe use a cometic head gasket but only if you are going for high boost. if your only going for 8psi or such dont bother with a thicker gasket

Take Ian and Ross' advice here Daz. Stu was running 8psi and got 280bhp, and the car was still very driveable. He has 8.5:1 compression ratio but that's only to allow him to run his high boost setting of 16psi for the track.

My advice to you would be to not let yourself overcomplicate things.

He said. the De (not the DE). From a P10 I believe. Or is that the SRi SR20?

is that out the P10?

my mate was going to turbo his P10 with a pulsar Manifold FMIC fuel pump Injectors and use a pulsar ECU. I was wondering if this would work. I am not after stupid amounts of boost I just wanted about 230-250 bhp at the engine so aprox 200-210 at the wheels

Thanks
Darren

I'Ve Built one of these and it works bloody well, i have

P10 Block , Drilled and tapped for oil and water ways
S14 Crank, s14 Wosner Forged pistons 8:1 Comp, Draivablitty is fine in non boost
Pulsar Head , Inlet Mainfold, Exhaust Man & Stock turbo , (the pulsar head has angle on the mating face of it, to allow the inlet mainfold to fit the bulk head, cheak this against P10 head as it may be square and the mainfold wont fit
Pulsar injectors and Fuel rail
300ZX fuel pump
Boost controller
Apexi air/fuel controller
S14 Airflow meter
pulsar Front mount
Standard N15 gearbox, Rebuild with new bearings
Standard N15 Clutch ]
washer bottle relocated in boot

now heres the best bit my engine is Still runnng the standard ecu (N/A SR20) ! , and it produced 258Bhp without any tuning , that was before i fitted the air/fuel conroller and 300xz Fuel Pump i havent had time to rolling road it again yet but it goes like a missile , i would think im getting close to 300

the major key was the air flow meter get the measuremt correct and it works , with fine tuning done with the fuel air controller ,

i shall wait for the it cant be done responce , any one thinks it dont work pop over and have a drive , if you need any more info mate give me a shout , i used to work for nissan and used to be a mastertech , competing in the nistech competion in the uk and europe , so i know my nissan !

Good luck mate its hard work but well worth it ! Dan

my plan was to use

P10 block and head
pulsar manifold with a T25 turbo or a T28
S14a injectors
Pulsar FMIC
Pulsar ECU
Boost Controller
BOV
Fuel Pressure Regulator
Walboro Fuel pump
Cometic head gasket or S14a Pistons to lower compression
SR20DE Gearbox N15 or P10,11, P11 144
Stage 2 or 3 clutch (unsure what brand yet)
Stock P10 Flywheel
New Chain and Revised Tensioner
ARP Head Bolts

This is very similar to my micra build setup!

P10 Block , Drilled and tapped for oil and water ways
standard pistons and crank currently - but im only running low boost currently
standard inlet ,
Pulsar Exhaust Man & Stock turbo ,
S14 injectors and Fuel rail
Walbro 255 fuel pump
Boost controller
Apexi air/fuel controller
Mk5 Supra Front mount
Standard N15 gearbox, Rebuild with new bearings
Standard N15 Clutch ]
Battery relocated in boot - washer still were it is

im currently building a Mega squirt ECU system though to be able to Map my own

but now that you mention the S14 airflow meter that i haven't and didn't know!

never come across that before

Can anyone tell me what engine this is I know its a VE but is it a SR16VE or SR20VE?
