advice / help with my project

looks like a chip is the way to go but to be honest on this motor i think im just gona push my luck with the bits ive got , i paid peanuts for the car so ive got nothing to lose but to just put a grin on my face for a while lol should be interesting

My voice of experience says that blowing up engine after engine and having fault after fault is no-where near fun. :(

Do it once and do it properly mate :)

Good luck with the build, but please to it properly/safe. A good remap will be money well spent long term.

You cant 'turn up' the fueling for adding forced induction, both a super and a turbo charger adds boost dependent on boost and load, example, driving at 50mph, 5th gear, on a flat level, no load, a boost gauge would read -psi, gradually speed up to 70mph in the same sceanio and the boost may creep up to around -1/+1 psi dependant on your level of foot control and the turbo/charger of choice. Accelerate fast or come to a steep bank and you boost will rapidly rise, so if you've just turned the fuel up then you're massivly running rich and will end up with bore wash, you can retard the timing and get a boost pressure sensor that will activate a 5th injector to add extra fuel and run like that. However you'll still be running way rich to make it safe and with the retarded ign timing you will be loosing a lot of power that you should have gained by charging your car.

yeah i get that bit , is there any rising rate fpr available ? i will in time get it mapped but for now im just gona plumb it in , i only paid 100 quid for the car so i dont fancy payin 400+ for a re-map , ive still got 2600 to pay off my holiday by october so i dont think im gona be able to sneak that kinda money by the missus lol
i think im just gona keep the boost low and use an fse boost valve for the fuel

one thing im confused about in the gti-r build is the re-circ valve set up , i understand that when throttle is shut and theres a vacuum in the plenum the dump valve opens , the thing is the charger will still be spining , even though no more air is going into the engine the charger will still be drawing air in past the afm , surely this will overfuel / confuse it ? thats why ive been told to mount a throttle body before the charger , does this make sense ?

also all the pipes that come from the plenum are usually using vacuum , what happens when they get pressure the oposite way ie boost ?

The valve is a little like a BOV / dump valve, except it works more like the recirculating type. When the engine is on vacuum, the valve opens and literally shorts out the supercharger so the intake bypasses it straight to the throttle

hey man.. you can just use a regular dump valve as a bypass valve usually.. most baily ones iv seen are open when under vacum..

also dont run your car suck through put the maf on the charged side of the piping , blow the charged air threw the maf rather than suck through it this should help the problems when its not on boost ect..
