Almera / Sunny GTi 4WD

best bet would be to take a gti-r put in some N/A pistons.. get some cams and springs put in a stand alone and run open ITB's..

thats if your dead sett on going 4wd.. personally you would be better staying FWD or looking at de turboing a 200sx.. and go RWD
 
I'm just looking at some options that's all. Got so many ideas running through my head as to what about to do for next year.

Been on the verge of getting a Mk1 or Mk2 Escort, thought about a 205 for the challenge and thought about going all out on the Sunny as it's got a weld-in cage.I've got the GTi engine,loom and ECU already but just need an LSD ideally.Would like more power but no LSD would mean no point.
 
dude if your gona get a mk 1 escort or mk 2 get a 200sx or 180sx and drop an N/A RWD sr20 engine in it.. would be great to see one turned into a rally car rather than a drift car..
 
Hmmmmm.......Dam you....Your giving me more idea...Ha ha...Ok, 200sx....How easy is it to get an LSD and a cage for one?

I've said it before and I'll say it again, for a rally car of any sort the only Nissan worth looking at is the Micra.

As far as I was aware it was only organisers ASRs that prevent turbos/4wd and it wasn't in the Blur book?

If you want to spend money on a good road rally car then I would emplore youto go down a mroe tried and tested route - Pug 106/205, Escort or Proton. You will get much more for your money and better results than you will ever get using an Almera.

Yes it is in the Blue Book......Shit rule as you can still put a Honda S2000 in an Escort which is much louder than any Scooby Turbo.

Hmmmmm.....Better results...Not so sure bout that.Been embarassing quite a few people on road rallies in my Sunny and thats just a 1400....Whats the weight of a Sunny..1100Kg including all the interior and a cage.1400 has only got 87bhp as well.So with a 150Bhp it's going to be much better.

11th O/a on a road rally with a Novice nav and with a slipping clutch passing over 12 other cars before petrol.Including a Subaru,106 rallye,206 Gti,205,Golf,Astras and so on.

I know the tried and tested route is probably the easier route.But I've got a good car with a weld in cage that I'm not going to chuck on the scrapheap.I've got a 2.0 Gti engine doing nothing in a rotten shell in the garage.Seems the only decent thing to do..
 
Like you said would be a shame to get rid of the Sunny shell with the weld in cage, I'd say go 2.0l....then depending if you wan't to spend the money get the PAR gearbox with LSD (mucho £) but how much do Mk2 Escorts go for these days? not cheap are they.
 
where can I get one of these LDS's though? My mates got an ex NME Sunny but he is building an Micar Wide Arch with a Primera touring car engine and with a 6 speed sequential...Have been looking at the Sunny if he decides to sell it.

As for Escorts.....it all depends on what spec you want really.Have got a load of mates that deal in them though and a few lads that just have sheds and sheds full of parts and stuff.So wouldn't be to bad.
 
Ah if you're not starting from scratch it's not so bad - I was under the impression you hadnt got a car yet.

I made my navigating debut in a Mazda 121 (kia pride) and everyone laughed. We came 21st o/a and 6th in class despite a crash on the first selective. It's nice to try an odd car, but if you plan on keeping it going it's cheaper and easier to go tried and tested.

Incidentally where did you get a weld in cage for a sunny from?

I'm not trying to cursh your dreams or anything like that, I just hope you can appreciate that rallying is much more than the spec of your car, and what is on paper a quick car is not necessarily a good rallycar.

Personally I'd leave the sunny as is, have some fun in it then if you do get to Arwel Sbidi level, then think about your car choice.

I'll volunteer to marshall if you need one up this end, I knwo how hard they are to find!
 
HOLY SHIT!!! My pockets ain't deep enough to buy the LSD let alone the gear kit!!

Plus it's only a 4.07 CWP....Would need a 4:4 to a 4:8 really.

Hold on....you know Arwel Sbidi....Fuck me.Small world this.I know him pretty well and a few of the other lads up that way.Arwels hired my mates Escort before.HEL 32V.

Had the Sunny a while now.SO will probs stick with it for a little bit.I am tempted by the 205 challenge though.We'll see
 
if you have a sunny already then drop the almera lump in there.. if you want an LSD get a VLSD box from the states.. can get them for a few hundredquid.. need axles aswell with it..
 
Already got a Sunny GTi engine and everything.

Not sure if a Viscous dif would be good enough for stages and the road rallies tbh.Lots of muddy fields and tracks on road rallies
 
better than nothing though.. if you carnt afford a normal diff.. i dont get how you can afford a 205 challenge car but carnt afford a diff on its own for the car you have already?
