Altering Stud pattern, N15.

shaggy_master

brapp brapp!
Looking to gather some info about changing the stud pattern on our N15's.
Don't want dodgy ways, its gotta be solid!
Anyone know if other Hubs are swappable?
Or has anyone encountered those adapters, and are they any good?
Also heard of Re-drilling, Re-studding etc, opinions?
Looking to obtain a stud pattern of 5 x 130 for whatever reason.
All info much appreciated.
Thanks.
Joe

PGA guys have swapped N16 onto N15 before iirc but I dont know the details, so in other words a swap from something is possible. Front hubs can probably be drilled but the rears are more shapped where parts of the hubs are thinner so they would need to be swapped out. Trouble with spacers that change the PCD is that they will push your offset right out. Expensive too.

H&R will do some :)

send them a email, :)
it will be a hubcentric kit, which bolts onto some new shorter studs, which wil have a new set of studs on :) BU it will space your wheels out too i think :)

20mm out though.... which means the wheels you buy will have to have a high offset which wont look as good. i.e. you wont get wheels on like those drift grids.

I remember on driftworks a lad had a local machining place knock up some hubcentric stud adapters (4 to 5 stud) fairly cheaply. Main thing I think is getting the centre bore right, and making them strong.

Gets some N15 GTi hubs.

Press or hammer out the studs.

Weld up the holes and skim to flat surface.

Redrill to desired setup....easy!

Probably not worth it. I think hubcentric converter is the way to go. Got to be cost effective, but more importantly, safe.

I started looking into doing something like this on mine, to get 5x114.3 for better wheel selection and easy conversion to R32 brakes/discs. But the cost involved in getting hubcentric spacers or fabrication and then getting the wheels I wanted is really not worth the cost for what is basically a cosmetic change. imo. So I hit that one on the head. I just thought what I could do with that money elsewhere on the car ;)
